Smells like Lemon. Tastes like Lemon. Slaps like Lemon. Can be used to passively-aggressively assault someone who offends you by adding large amount into their food. (LOL WE’RE KIDDING PLEASE DON’T DO THIS)
Sumac really does taste like lemon though. And it really does slap too. It’s a beautiful burgundy-red spice that’s grown in hilly and high plateau places like Turkey, Sicily and other Mediterranean cities. And also known as Rhus trilobata, this ninja spice can serve both as a herbal supplement & as a strong flavor to your meats, meals and desserts.
It contains 2 types of special unsaturated fats: Oleic acid (a monounsaturated fat) which is great for your heart and found in other plant fruits like avocado, and Linoleic acid (a polyunsaturated fat) that keeps your skin healthy and fresh by maintaining good cellular membrane health.
But that’s not even why it’s popularly known as a natural supplement. Turns out sumac contains really potent antioxidants (including tannins, anthocyanins, and flavonoids). These antioxidants are the major cause of the heart and skin benefits you get from sumac, plus it also helps you maintain the right blood sugar levels and is recommended for people with type 2 diabetes (or people who don’t want to get type 2 diabetes)
A 2016 study also showed sumac can help you feel less post-exercise muscle pain (this one’s for our fit fam)
Side warning: Sumac comes from the same family as cashews and mangos. So if you’re allergic to any of these you’d want to stir clear.
But if you’re lucky enough to not be allergic to them, and you’re looking to keep fit & stay healthy, then you should definitely bless your taste buds with this citrusy, strong burst of flavor. As long as you can take a punch.
Can be used for: sumac chicken and onion, mussakhan, fish, vegetables etc
Ingredients: organic sumac ground
*We can assure you fresh, pure, safe, FDA-approved Sumac because we import all our spice seeds/fruits and produce them in-house
